Histo-PinTAG allows the slides to be re-identified with internal case information without compromising the information and integrity of the original label. This easy, one-step solution for the re-identification of microscope slides helps address some of the drawbacks of currently available methods by eliminating the need for hard-to-manipulate small dot labels, using cover-up inks, or blackout labels that conceal the entire original information on the pre-existing label, or placing labels on the back or bottom of the slide, which can interfere with imaging and processing systems.

Conforming to NHS guidelines for preserving slide identifiers when over-labeling, Histo-PinTAG has a protected design that incorporates a small dot label connected to a printable rectangle. The dot label disrupts the scanning of the existing 2D or 1D barcode without covering the rest of the information on the original label, while the thermal-transfer printed rectangular portion containing a new barcode can be effortlessly snapped-off and affixed just below the original label. The resulting re-labeled slide is now ready for processing, without interference from the original barcode, ensuring full compatibility with digital slide scanners and automated slide processing systems.

Histo-PinTAG labels are also fully removable, which is essential if the slides need to be returned or if the original barcode needs to be accessed. With Histo-PinTAG, it is possible to easily remove the label after the slides have been processed, without damaging the original label or leaving behind any residue.
